The shattered economy and decreasing parking revenues call for domainers to wisen up. This can be a positive thing; maybe now we’ll finally learn to treat our domain portfolios as they should be treated: stock that is either making a profit or causing losses.

As a result of this new reckoning, there has been an increase in the demand for alternatives to domain parking, and also a new interest in starting up a bona fide online business that sells something real, whether that be information or tangible goods.

In my most recent newsletter to Estibot members, I introduced a couple of products that can help start an online business, or facilitate developing websites for one’s domain names, and also announced the launch of a new service, Estibot Domain Development. Here’s the newsletter in its entirety:

First, I’ve written a short introduction to two products that I’ve found
can mean the difference between success and failure when creating an
online business or making websites, or developing one’s own domain names.
Read it here:
Online Business and Website Development

As usual, I don’t promote any product that I don’t feel is a very good
product. I promote these because they’re very good, and I believe that
telling you about them is a good thing. I have bought these products for
myself, and used them successfully. They are tried and tested.

–
Addition: I’ve received feedback that I should mention Wordpress as an alternative Content Management System for developing successful websites. Now, I agree that Wordpress is a wonderful thing: It’s great for SEO, very versatile, universally recognized, can be used as a full blown CMS, and there are amazing templates available. Best of all, it’s free. However, there’s a caveat: It has a steep learning curve. Most domainers are not skilled web developers, and I wanted to introduce a tool that would enable the domainer to spend minimal time learning the system, and maximal time in getting things done. If you’re willing to put in the time needed to learn Wordpress as CMS effectively, then by all means, do it. Others may benefit more from a WYSIWYG solution.

–

Second, I want to announce a new service for developing your domains at low cost.

After I promoted the domain development services by aeiou.com, I received many requests for a cheaper service. Many turned to aeiou.com and were happy with it, but that left me with a lot of subscribers who felt the price tag was too high.

I always try to respond to feedback, and so I now offer Estibot Domain Development exclusively to Estibot members, as an alternative to the aeiou.com services.

This is my own domain development system, and I’m now offering to develop your domains as well. I’ve used this system for myself for some time, and I’m happy with the results.

Why domain development? Domain development is a great alternative to
parking, and it provides an opportunity to turn losses into profits.
Basically what it means, is that domains are developed into niche
minisites, search engine optimized and monetized by Google Adsense or
other similar services.

There are several advantages to domain development over domain parking.
1) You take out the middle man, and get more revenue for yourself
2) You get your domain search engine indexed, thereby increasing its value
3) Once you’ve developed your domain into a website, it will keep improving its rankings and generating revenue, virtually forever.
4) You can decide to upgrade your site from a minisite to a full-blown business any time, and by that time it’ll already be out of the Google sandbox, and will have gained solid rankings in the search engines.
5) You can use your developed domain names as a platform for link building 6) You can increase end user sales by demonstrating how the domain name attracts business

I shouldn’t need say more, but I’ll say it anyway: Since aeiou.com developed WholesaleFlour.com (found with Estibot available tools, of course) for me, I’ve started receiving regular inquiries from bakeries and grocery stores who want to buy large quantities of flour from me. I’m going to use this as leverage for selling the domain name to an end user at a hefty price tag. Either that, or I’m going to turn my living room into a flour storage.

What’s included in the Estibot Domain Development package?
1) Niche keyword analysis for best search engine visibility, maximum traffic and ad revenue.
2) Five pages of search engine optimized, ORIGINAL content
3) Website design
4) A link building and SEO campaign to get your site indexed, and to start generating organic traffic from day one
5) Free hosting for your site (you will also receive the site files by email)
6) If you choose to host with me, you’ll also get an automatically updating “News” page that keeps the site fresh and keeps feeding the search engines fresh, up-to-date content
7) A contact form so visitors can send you inquiries and buyers can send you offers

–

Addition: By request, the following package has been added

An optional SEO Super package, with manual submissions (including email confirmations) to 50 or 100 hand picked, SEO friendly directories, PLUS a blog review campaign with 5 unique blog posts on separate blogs reviewing your site, with backlinks.

The price for the optional SEO Super package is only $25 (50 directories, 5 blog posts) or $35 (100 directories, 5 blog posts)

–

I’ve developed over a hundred of these sites, using freshly registered niche generic keyword domain names that I’ve found with the Estibot long-tail and available domains tools.

Here are some samples of the type of sites you will get:

Maida Flour - MaidaFlour.com

Winter In Finland - WinterInFinland.com

Neuroaugmentation.com

Safest Automobile - SafestAutomobile.com

Broccoli Quiche - BroccoliQuiche.com

I’m releasing this service at minimal cost to Estibot members only, and I’m not promoting this outside of this newsletter, until I get an idea of how much interest there is. This is an exclusive service, so the price is valid for Estibot members only. If you receive this newsletter, you’re eligible for this offer.

I don’t have a big machine churning out these websites - I’ll just develop your names alongside with my own; I only have a limited number of slots available, so act fast because I can only accommodate a very limited number of orders. At this point I can’t promise a deadline, because I don’t know how many orders I get yet.

The price for a website as described above, complete with a link building campaign and free hosting, is only USD $99. Just place your order, and after that you don’t even have to lift a finger!

–

Addition:

The service is running already nearly at capacity due to a large number of orders received immediately after the newsletter went out. I can only accommodate a few more orders for the time being.

–

To order, reply to this email with the following information:
1) The domain names to develop
2) Specify whether you want me to host the sites, or host yourself
3) If there are certain topics you want covered in the content, specify those, otherwise I will perform the keyword analysis
4) Your Adsense publisher ID
5) Adsense channel ID for each domain, if you want to track the performance of the site
6) Statcounter or Google or other analytics code for each domain, if you want
7) optionally 160×600 skyscraper for affiliate link etc if you want to use that instead of Adsense. You can also give a large rectangle, square, or whatever you want. If you don’t send full code for alternative ads, I’ll place two 468×15 link units and one 160×600 wide skyscraper with your publisher and channel ID’s on the pages

Once I receive your order, I will send you an invoice, and development will start once payment is received. Payment is by Paypal - but you don’t have to have a Paypal account - you can use all major credit cards to make the payment. If you pay with Paypal balance, certified Paypal accounts are accepted only.

–

Addition: Note please, you need to add 4% to cover fees, unless you do a Mass Pay (see my previous post)

–

Oh, and the third thing. I’m very busy developing new stuff; great new
tools are in the works. Stay tuned.

1. Create a text file using notepad or textedit that has the following information:
paypal@example.com 200.00 USD

The file is tab delimited, meaning there is a [TAB] between each of those columns. In other words
paypal@example.com[TAB]200.00[TAB]USD

You can change the currency if you with. Use EUR for euro, CAD for canadian dollars.

Save the file as masspay.txt - it has to be .txt.

2. Go to your Paypal account. Go to My Account.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on the link “Mass Pay”

4. Click on the link in the sidebar that says “Make a Mass Payment!”

5. Click “choose file” and select your file masspay.txt

6. Select recipient type: email address

7. Add optional subject line and comment

8. Click “continue”

9. Verify the information and click “send money”.

You will notice that Paypal will charge you $1 for the transaction. That’s the only fee incurred.

You’re done!

I keep hearing that “all the good domain names are already taken” and that there is nothing left to hand reg.

Not so. There are still plenty of 2 and 3-word generic keyword domain names available for registration out there. The trick is to find them.

Case in point: WholesaleFlour.com.

I found this using the Estibot Long-Tail tool, and hand registered it. I had AEIOU.com make a minisite for it, and it went to position #5 on Google for “wholesale flour” within a few weeks of going live.

Today I received an inquiry through the contact form on the website:

We own a cookie company called ****** LLC. We go through hundreds of pounds of flour each week. Is it possible we can get a rate sheet from you and do you deliver. Thanks.

It’s a minisite for chrissakes. Why isn’t it a website for a flour wholesale company? Because they a) don’t know about the power of domain names and never registered it, b) they don’t know about the power of domain names and are not willing to cough up enough to make me a decent offer for the name.

Let’s say wheat flour costs about $50 per 100 pounds. These guys wanted to order hundreds of pounds per week, say 500 pounds. That’s $250 per week. Multiply that by weeks in a year (52) and you just closed missed a $13,000 deal because you didn’t own the domain name.

That’s the power of domain names: They are the seed of business. Even hand registered ones.

I got inspired and just searched for more available names using the Estibot Long Tail and Available-Plus tools. I regged some, including BuyFlour.com. Not bad, considering this:

Flour prices going up: Pizzerias buying flour like white gold

I also searched for more Wholesale related names, regged a few including LanyardsWholesale.com. Here’s a list of some that I found. They are still available for registration. Enjoy!

I have now received 4 weeks’ installment’s of Mickie’s Domain Sales Machine e-course. I am happy with the content; I have taken steps to follow what he has done with his domain names. Some may feel that his system provides nothing earth-shattering, and I agree that it is not magic; but I am convinced that I and anyone subscribing to it will earn the price back many times over thanks to the concise presentation of his system, and the way it makes you think really hard about your own domain sales philosophy. I continue to endorse and support Mickie’s course. I feel that it is essential reading to all domainers struggling with their sales volume.

Here is my original newsletter regarding this

Once in a while something comes up that may just change the way you think:

The Domain Sales Machine

As long as I have been domaining, I’ve found that the most difficult part is making those sales. WIth Estibot and other tools, it’s not that hard to find good generic keyword domains, but it’s hard to keep up a sufficient monthly revenue from domain sales. I have made some individual nice sales, but they are few and far between and usually I can’t count on making enough sales to maintain a steady income stream.

From the emails I get from Estibot members, I know that many of you struggle with this too. You have these nice names, but no one seems interested in buying them. I’ve been there.

Another big question is, how to spot the really good names? What is it in a domain name that makes it sell?

Some people seem to succeed in this game better than others. A colleague in the domain name industry, named Mickie Kennedy, got into the game rather late, just like me. But the difference between us is that in the past 3 years or so, he’s made $2.5 million profit from his domain name sales. That’s right, $2.5 million dollars, and that’s a confirmed fact.

And here’s the thing…he doesn’t own any single-word dotcoms. He has made most of his money from hand registered domain names and cheap expired domain auction wins. He specializes in bulk sales and keeps a low, attractive price tag on his domain names. He doesn’t cold call or do any other unpleasant salesman work. He’s got his own system for selling domain names. Anyone who’s seen him work and make sales has come out not only amazed but a lot smarter.

The good news is, he’s just released an e-course in which he reveals his system completely, taking the subscriber through the necessary steps to set up an effective system for selling domains. It’s recommended by many industry professionals, including Matt Rosebrook,
SEDO Domain Broker, and features among other things weekly exclusive available domain name lists produced by my collaborator and friend Bill Eisenmann (aka NameClerk), of AvailableDomainNames.com fame.

Bill has previously been privy to some parts of Mickie’s system, and Bill says, “I spoke with him last year and was blown away with how he works. He has a system he uses that maximizes domain sales and unloads the bulk of his domains before they near their expiration date. He only gave me bits and pieces of his system but I adopted much of it to my current sales process. The result: thousands of dollars from domains I normally would just let expire.”

Mickie calls it the Domain Sales Machine. It’s not magic, but it’s damned smart, and there is a wealth of important information and secrets in his e-course. I have bought a subscription for myself, and I recommend it to Estibot members. If you’re serious about domaining, and want to make actual money instead of letting your domain portfolio just sit there and lose money, maybe it’s time to learn from those who have proven themselves in the industry. I know I will personally pay very close attention to what Mickie has to say, and hope that it will transform my domain portfolio into a money making machine.

I’m happy to say that Estibot will also be featured in the e-course, as one of the tools for finding domain names that sell.

Click here to visit his site: DomainSalesMachine.com

Full disclosure: The links on this page are affiliate links, and I do get credit if you purchase his system. I would not promote it to my subscribers if I did not believe in it. I believe his e-course has real value to my members, and will pay itself back many many times. If you purchase it through these links, you will also support Estibot, for which I am grateful.

Cheers,
-Esa

Parking income is not so great these days. I feel that minisite development is a better option. The way I look for domains with the tools is sort them by OVT, Wordtracker, Google phrase, #ads, PPC bid - all in turn. Then look at the top domains with each sorting. Then I pick the ones that sound good, make perfect sense (medicalAirTransport.com, LTLTransportation.com, SeatCanes.com) but not the ones that don’t make sense (CaneSeat.com, AndAffiliate.com) - I require that a domain describes a product perfectly, that it is natural language or widely used term. It should have some search popularity also.

Two words is best, three is OK, and four words is sometimes acceptable if the term is extra strong. If all that is combined to a high PPC max bid, then the domain is on my shortlist. Make no mistake, I reg 1 domain for every 10,000 or so that I find…

Additionally I have started copy-pasting the Estibot domain list to Google Adwords keyword tool. It will show fresh Google data for the domain, including PPC bid and search popularity. If the search popularity is in the hundreds (exact) and there is advertiser competition and preferably an above $1 CPC bid, then the domain is a strong candidate, provided that it makes sense as a term. I hope to integrate fresh Google data to Estibot somehow, but not quite there yet.

Also with Estibot you can find domain names that may be accepted to the Domain Distribution Network (fabulousdomains.com) and could make money from that.
